Publishing

Great stories are the foundation for all we do at Livingston+McKay. Our publishing imprint, Nibbles was established to delve deeper into the story principles taught in our story workshops, lectures, and classes. We wanted to think not only outside the box, but to act like there is no box. Using Snippet App's publishing platform, we are able to reimagine books and create a beautiful and engaging, media rich mobile reading experience unlike any other.

Where most ebooks are an electronic version of a printed book, Nibbles are interactive, peppered throughout with "discoverables" — pictures, embedded HD video with additional material and creative exercises, audio files, and live social media links allowing you to connect with the author and exchange ideas with a like-minded community using a hashtag right inside the book.

Each Nibbles book is packed with valuable and practical information gleaned from years of experience at a fraction of the cost of our live sessions. They are designed to enrich your learning in a whole new way by sharing a more immersive teaching environment any time at any place.

Have you started a book, then got too busy to finish it? Nibbles are uniquely produced for mobile devices to take advantage of those short bursts of downtime we all have. Created to be a quick read, each chapter is limited to 1,000 words or less. So, no matter where you are, whether riding on the subway, waiting on your kids after school or hanging out at a café between appointments, you can continue to learn and, more important, proudly finish the book.

BLUEPRINT SERIES
How-To books giving you the tools you need to craft insanely great stories from script to screen. Although the emphasis is on scripts, the principles apply to novels too. Written by a writer for writers, a producer for producers, a director for directors, well... you get the idea!

Our first release is in the STORY RHETORIC category:

Three Act What? Great Story Structure
(released: February 19, 2014)

Written primarily with screenwriters in mind, but will be of use to any creative writer or producer.

Future titles in STORY RHETORIC will delve into crafting great characters and scenes, to mastering subtext and dialogue.

There will also be a PRODUCTION category. Future titles in PRODUCTION include producing award-winning documentaries, producing for PBS, and storytelling techniques in directing, acting, cinematography, production design, editing, and scoring films.

If there are specific titles you would like to see done, drop us a note and let us know.
