Livingston+McKay to Speak at North Georgia Campus

Joani Livingston and Renée McKay will be speaking at a series of events sponsored by North Georgia's Cultural Events Committee, the Department of Visual Arts and the Georgia Appalachian Studies Center on Tuesday, March 6.

The filmmakers will offer their extensive knowledge on filmmaking to students in both the Introduction to Appalachia class and the Introduction to Film class.

During the day, Livingston and McKay will have a chance to meet one-on-one with students in an informal setting and offer the students advice on what to keep in mind when writing a script, how to break into the business, work in a creative team and more.

After spending the day with students, Livingston and McKay will conclude their visit with an event, "Creative Catalysts: The Importance of Story," at the Historic Holly Theater from 7 to 9 p.m. They will present excerpts from their documentaries and programs, as well as an exclusive clip from their upcoming documentary "Primary Concern."

The event will also include a discussion moderated by North Georgia film studies instructor Carrie Schrader. Tickets are $5 at the door and free for North Georgia students.
